A three week trip by small groups of independent school youth leaders in the Fall/Winter of 2008-2009 to trek and volunteer in the spectacular Himalayas of Nepal. .
Experience what life is really like high up in the Annapurna range of this beautiful mountain kingdom.
Spend part of either trek making a difference in the lives of Nepalese school children and villagers through hands-on-participation in the “Light up the World” project, which provides highly-efficient, solar-powered white-LED light technology systems needed in schools, clinics, and homes (see http://www.lutw.org). [Please also see the movie at http://www.lutw.org/newsletter.htm - under videos, right click to download onto your desktop, then watch an exceptional short film.]
With your new-found perspective on the challenges of village life in Nepal, you will continue your journey of discovery through the challenge of trekking to Annapurna I South-Face Base Camp at 13,550ft/4130m in the 360 degree panoramic mountain amphitheatre known as “The Sanctuary”.
Please note that the highly challenging trek does NOT involve any technical (i.e. ropes, picks and pitons, etc.) climbing.
Trip proceeds will support the wonderful eco-friendly work of the Light up the World Foundation, and impact hundreds of children and their families.
